11.45am - 2004-12-10 Why are there always empty Lucuzade Sport bottles rolling around on the top deck of the bus? The other day there were THREE of them rolling around my feet. I never see anyone drinking Lucuzade. I never drink it. Maybe it's a South London thing, like the stinky Fried Chicken. Empty greasy boxes under the seats and a few chips scattered nearby. Then there's the pistachio nut shells. Evidence of another popular bus time snack. Actually, I might stop following my instincts of always going upstairs (a hangover from my rebellious youth). It's safer, warmer, cleaner and quieter (if no children in buggies board) downstairs. I just like the view from above, you get a different perspective on London and can peer into the people's flats above shops. That's why the demise of the Routemasters is so sad. The 73 bus route is fantastic, but on the new single deckers with tinted windows you can't see shit. This country is fast becoming something I don't like. All the old greasy spooners and 50's coffee shops are going out of business because of huge American coffee chains, and eventually everything that's real will be replaced by plastic and temporary structures.
